On Sunday, December 16th, 1928, the 1928 NFL season
concluded with the Providence Steam Roller holding the best regular season
record at 8-1-2 to win the ninth championship in NFL history, while the Frankford
Yellow Jackets took the runner-up spot with a 11-3-2 record. It was the first
championship for the Steam Roller franchise.
Verne Lewellen of the Green Bay Packers scored the
most touchdowns during the season with nine.
