1945 NFL Season Recap

On Sunday, December 16th, 1945, the Cleveland (now Los Angeles) Rams defeated the Washington Redskins 15-14 in the 1945 NFL Championship Game to win the 26th championship in NFL history. It was the first championship for the Rams franchise. The game was held at Cleveland Stadium in Cleveland.

Out of Playoffs: Philadelphia Eagles (7-3), Detroit Lions (7-3), Green Bay Packers (6-4), New York Giants (3-6-1), Boston Yanks (3-6-1), Chicago Bears (3-7), Pittsburgh Steelers (2-8), Chicago Cardinals (1-9)

Most rushing touchdowns: #15 Steve Van Buren (Eagles)- 15 TD

Most receiving touchdowns: #22 Frank Liebel (Giants)- 10 TD

Most interceptions: #7 Roy Zimmerman (Eagles)- 7 INT

Best field goal percentage (min. 9 attempts): #19 Joe Aguirre (Redskins)- 7 for 13, 53.8%
