On Sunday, February 5th, 2017, the New England
Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in overtime in Super Bowl LI to win
the 97th championship in NFL history. It was the fifth championship for the Patriots
franchise as Patriots quarterback Tom Brady won his fourth Super Bowl MVP
Award. The game was held at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan won the 2016 MVP Award
with 38 passing touchdowns and 4,944 passing yards, while Oakland Raiders
linebacker Khalil Mack won the 2016 Defensive Player of the Year Award with one
interception, five forced fumbles and 11 sacks.
