Top 5 Players of the 2014 World Series

On Wednesday, October 29th, 2014, the San Francisco Giants defeated the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City to win the 110th World Series four games to three. It was the eighth (and, as of this writing, most recent) World Series championship for the Giants franchise, as well as the 13th that was won in Missouri. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series.

5. #6 Lorenzo Cain (Royals)- CF

Cain picked up player of the game honors in game six, knocking in three RBIs with one run, two hits and two walks as the Royals claimed a 10-0 victory.

4. #11 Jeremy Guthrie (Royals)- P

Guthrie pitched his way to player of the game honors in game three, as he pitched five innings while allowing two earned runs on four hits and no walks in the Royals’ 3-2 win.

3. #35 Brandon Crawford (Giants)- SS

Crawford earned player of the game in game five, hitting three RBIs on two hits as the Giants went on to win 5-0 to take a lead in the series.

2. #40 Madison Bumgarner (Giants)- P

Bumgarner grabbed player of the game honors in game seven, pitching the final five innings while allowing no earned runs on a pair of hits and no walks as the Giants claimed a 3-2 win to claim the series victory.

1. #8 Hunter Pence (Giants)- RF

Pence scored player of the game in games one and four, as game one saw him get two RBIs on two runs, two hits, and two walks as the Giants won it 7-1, followed up in game four with a three RBI performance, getting two runs and three hits as the Giants won 11-4.
