On Monday, June 24th, 2013, the Chicago Blackhawks
defeated the Boston Bruins at TD Garden in Boston to win the 99th Stanley Cup
Finals four games to two. It was the fifth Stanley Cup championship for the Blackhawks
franchise, and the eighth that was won in Massachusetts. These are the top five
players that I felt most stood out during the series.
5. #65 Andrew Shaw (Blackhawks)- F
Shaw got partial player of the game honors in game
one, picking up a goal and an assist in the Blackhawks’ 4-3 triple overtime
win.
4. #36 Dave Bolland (Blackhawks)- F
Bolland also took partial player of the game in game
one, as he also got one goal and one assist.
3. #19 Jonathan Toews (Blackhawks)- F
Toews claimed player of the game in game six, scoring
one goal and one assist as the Blackhawks won it 3-2 to claim the Stanley Cup.
2. #40 Tuukka Rask (Bruins)- G
Rask was player of the game in games two and three, making
33 saves on 34 shots in the Bruins’ 2-1 overtime victory in game two. In game
three, Rask got the shutout with 28 saves on 28 shots as the Bruins won 2-0.
1. #88 Patrick Kane (Blackhawks)- F
Kane grabbed player of the game honors in games four
and five, getting one goal and one assist as the Blackhawks won game four 6-5
in overtime. Kane also added two goals in game five on the way to the
Blackhawks’ 3-1 victory.
