Top 5 Players of the 2012 Stanley Cup Finals

On Monday, June 11th, 2012, the Los Angeles Kings defeated the New Jersey Devils at Staples Center in Los Angeles to win the 98th Stanley Cup Finals four games to two. It was the first Stanley Cup championship for the Kings franchise, and the second that was won in California. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series.

5. #17 Ilya Kovalchuk (Devils)- F

Kovalchuk grabbed player of the game honors in game four, getting a goal in the Devils’ 3-1 victory.

4. #30 Martin Brodeur (Devils)- G

Brodeur took player of the game in game five, as he picked up 25 saves on 26 chances to help the Devils to a 2-1 win.

3. #14 Justin Williams (Kings)- F

Williams was game three’s player of the game, scoring one goal and one assist in the Kings’ 4-0 win.

2. #77 Jeff Carter (Kings)- F

Carter claimed player of the game in game six, getting a pair of goals as the Kings won 6-1 to earn the series victory.

1. #32 Jonathan Quick (Kings)- G

Quick earned player of the game honors in games one and two, as he made 16 saves on 17 chances for a 2-1 overtime victory, followed in game two with 32 saves on 33 shots in another 2-1 win in overtime for the Kings.
