On Sunday, October 28th, 2007, the Boston Red Sox
defeated the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field in Denver to win the 103rd World
Series four games to none. It was the seventh World Series championship for the
Red Sox franchise, as well as the first that was won in Colorado. These are the
top five players that I felt most stood out during the series.
5. #19 Josh Beckett (Red Sox)- P
Beckett got the win in game one, going seven innings
while allowing only one earned run on six hits and one walk as the Red Sox
picked up a 13-1 win.
4. #46 Jacoby Ellsbury (Red Sox)- CF
Ellsbury scored player of the game honors in game
three, picking up a pair of RBIs along with two runs and four hits as the Red
Sox claimed the 10-5 win.
3. #24 Manny Ramirez (Red Sox)- LF
Ramirez earned player of the game in game one, knocking
in two RBIs on three runs, three hits, and a walk as the Red Sox won it 13-1 to
start off the series.
2. #38 Curt Schilling (Red Sox)- P
Schilling got player of the game in game two, going
five and a third innings as he allowed one earned run on four hits and two
walks in the Red Sox’s 2-1 victory.
1. #31 Jon Lester (Red Sox)- P
Lester scored player of the game honors in game four, going
five and two thirds innings with no earned runs allowed, giving up just three
hits and three walks as the Red Sox earned the 4-3 victory to clinch the series
sweep.
