Top 5 Players of the 1995 Stanley Cup Finals

On Saturday, June 24th, 1995, the New Jersey Devils defeated the Detroit Red Wings at Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey to win the 82nd Stanley Cup Finals four games to none. It was the first Stanley Cup championship for the Devils franchise, and the first that was won in New Jersey. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series.

5. #29 Shawn Chambers (Devils)- D

Chambers earned a pair of goals and an assist during the series sweep, leading all defensemen in goals scored.

4. #44 Stephane Richer (Devils)- F

Richer picked up two goals and two assists in the series, including a power play goal in game one.

3. #27 Scott Niedermayer (Devils)- D

Niedermayer got player of the game honors in game two, getting a goal and two assists as the Devils went on to take a 4-2 win.

2. #30 Martin Brodeur (Devils)- G

Brodeur took player of the game in game one, getting 16 saves on 17 chances in the Devils’ 2-1 victory to start off the series.

1. #9 Neal Broten (Devils)- F

Broten claimed player of the game honors in games three and four, scoring one goal and one assist in the Devils’ 5-2 win, followed up in game four with two goals as the Devils won 5-2 again to pick up the series sweep.
