Top 5 Players of the 1965 World Series

On Thursday, October 14th, 1965, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Minnesota Twins at Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington, Minnesota to win the 62nd World Series four games to three. It was the fourth World Series championship for the Dodgers franchise and the first that was won in Minnesota. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series.

5. #2 Zoilo Versalles (Twins)- SS

Versalles grabbed player of the game in game one, driving in four RBIs with one run and a pair of hits as the Twins won 8-2 to start off the series.

4. #8 John Roseboro (Dodgers)- C

Roseboro got player of the game in game three, taking two RBIs with one hit as the Dodgers went on to win the game 4-0.

3. #19 Jim Gilliam (Dodgers)- 3B

Gilliam was the player of the game in game five, as he picked up two RBIs with one run and two hits in the Dodgers’ 7-0 victory.

2. #6 Ron Fairly (Dodgers)- RF

Fairly took player of the game honors in game four, scoring three RBIs with one run and one hit as the Dodgers claimed the 7-2 victory.

1. #32 Sandy Koufax (Dodgers)- P

Koufax earned player of the game honors in game seven, pitching a complete game shutout while allowing just three hits and three walks as the Dodgers won it 2-0 to clinch the series victory.
