Top 5 Players of the 1957 Stanley Cup Finals

On Tuesday, April 16th, 1957, the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Boston Bruins at the Montreal Forum to win the 44th Stanley Cup Finals four games to one. It was the ninth Stanley Cup championship for the Canadiens franchise, and the 11th that was won in Quebec. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series.

5. #8 Fleming MacKell (Bruins)- F

MacKell claimed player of the game in game four, as he picked up a pair of goals as the Bruins took their lone victory of the series 2-0.

4. #12 Dickie Moore (Canadiens)- F

Moore earned player of the game honors in game five, taking one goal and two assists as the Canadiens won 5-1 to clinch the series championship.

3. #5 Bernie Geoffrion (Canadiens)- F

Geoffrion got player of the game in game three, as he scored two goals in the Canadiens’ 4-2 victory.

2. #9 Maurice Richard (Canadiens)- F

Richard claimed player of the game honors in game one, as he earned four goals as the Canadiens went on to win it 5-1 to kick off the series.

1. #1 Jacques Plante (Canadiens)- F

Plante took player of the game in game two, as he earned a shutout with no goals allowed on 24 shots as the Canadiens picked up the 1-0 win.
