Top 5 Players of the 1952 Stanley Cup Finals

On Tuesday, April 15th, 1952, the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Montreal Canadiens at the Detroit Olympia to win the 39th Stanley Cup Finals four games to none. It was the fifth Stanley Cup championship for the Red Wings franchise, and the sixth that was won in Michigan. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series.

5. #7 Ted Lindsay (Red Wings)- F

Lindsay scored the most goals in total for the Red Wings, getting three goals during the series.

4. #8 Tony Leswick (Red Wings)- F

Leswick picked up player of the game honors in game one, getting a pair of goals to help the Red Wings to the 3-1 victory to start off the series.

3. #9 Gordie Howe (Red Wings)- F

Howe earned player of the game in game three, picking up two goals and an assist in the Red Wings’ 3-0 victory.

2. #10 Metro Prystai (Red Wings)- F

Prystai got player of the game in game four, as he claimed a pair of goals and an assist as the Red Wings went on to take the 3-0 win to earn the series sweep.

1. #1 Terry Sawchuk (Red Wings)- G

Sawchuk was game two’s player of the game, allowing just one goal in the Red Wings’ 2-1 win to pull ahead in the series.
