Top 5 Players of the 1948 Stanley Cup Finals

On Wednesday, April 14th, 1948, the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Detroit Red Wings at the Detroit Olympia in Detroit to win the 35th Stanley Cup Finals four games to none. It was the seventh Stanley Cup championship for the Maple Leafs franchise, and the fourth that was won in Michigan. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series.

5. #10 Syl Apps (Maple Leafs)- F

Apps claimed partial player of the game in game one, scoring one goal and one assist in the Maple Leafs’ 5-3 win to kick off the series.

4. #9 Ted Kennedy (Maple Leafs)- F

Kennedy picked up partial player of the game in game four, as he got a pair of goals as the Maple Leafs went on to win 7-2 to earn the series championship.

3. #4 Harry Watson (Maple Leafs)- F

Watson claimed partial player of the game in game four as well, scoring two goals in the Maple Leafs’ 7-2 win to clinch the series sweep.

2. #7 Max Bentley (Maple Leafs)- F

Bentley earned player of the game honors in game two, picking up two goals as the Maple Leafs won it 4-2.

1. #1 Turk Broda (Maple Leafs)- G

Broda scored player of the game honors in game three, as he claimed a shutout victory as the Maple Leafs won 2-0.
