On Monday, October 9th, 1944, the St. Louis Cardinals
defeated the St. Louis Browns (now Baltimore Orioles) at Sportsman’s Park in
St. Louis to win the 40th World Series four games to two. It was the fifth
World Series championship for the Cardinals franchise and the fourth that was
won in Missouri. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out
during the series.

McQuinn earned player of the game in game three,
picking up two RBIs with one run, three hits and one walk in the Browns’ 6-2
victory.

Galehouse was player of the game in game one, pitching
all nine innings while allowing just one earned run on seven hits and four
walks as the Browns claimed the 2-1 win to start off the series.
3. #6 Stan Musial (Cardinals)- RF
Musial was game four’s player of the game, as he
knocked in a pair of RBIs with two runs, three hits and a walk in the
Cardinals’ 5-1 win.

Cooper picked up player of the game honors in game
five, pitching a complete game shutout while giving up seven hits and a pair of
walks as the Cardinals went on to win 2-0.
