On Thursday, April 13th, 1933, the New York Rangers
defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto to win
the 20th Stanley Cup Finals three games to one. It was the fourth Stanley Cup
championship for the Maple Leafs franchise, and the eighth that was won in
Ontario. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the
series.
5. #1 Lorne Chabot (Maple Leafs)- G
Chabot got the win in game three, as he allowed two
goals on the way to the Maple Leafs’ 3-2 win, as well as nearly getting a
shutout in game four with a 1-0 overtime loss.
4. #15 Ken Doraty (Maple Leafs)- F
Doraty scored player of the game honors in game three,
getting two goals as the Maple Leafs went on to win it 3-2.
3. #2 Earl Seibert (Rangers)- D
Seibert picked up player of the game honors in game
two, nabbing a goal as the Rangers won it 3-1 to pull further ahead in the
series.
2. #8 Cecil Dillon (Rangers)- F
Dillon earned player of the game in game one, as he
scored two goals to help the Rangers to the 5-1 win.
1. #1 Andy Aitkenhead (Rangers)- G
Aitkenhead was game four’s player of the game, getting
a shutout in the Rangers’ 1-0 overtime victory to claim the series title.
