On Wednesday, November 1st, 2017, the Houston Astros defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles to win the 113th World Series four games to three. It was the first (and, as of this writing, most recent) World Series championship for the Astros franchise, as well as the 11th that was won in California. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series.

5. #44 Rich Hill (Dodgers)- P

Hill got player of the game honors in game six, going four and two thirds innings while allowing only one earned run on four hits and a walk as the Dodgers got the 3-1 victory.

4. #22 Clayton Kershaw (Dodgers)- P

Kershaw scored player of the game in game one, as he pitched seven innings while allowing just one earned run on three hits and no walks in the Dodgers’ 3-1 win to start off the series.

3. #10 Yuli Gurriel (Astros)- 1B

Gurriel took player of the game in game three, knocking in an RBI on one run and a pair of hits as the Astros won it 5-3.

2. #27 Jose Altuve (Astros)- 2B

Altuve picked up player of the game honors in game five, hitting four RBIs along with three runs and three hits in the Astros’ 13-12 victory in 10 innings.

1. #4 George Springer (Astros)- CF

Springer earned player of the game honors in games two and seven, taking two RBIs on one run, three hits and a walk as the Astros won it 7-6 in 11 innings, while in game seven, he had a pair of RBIs with two runs and two hits in the Astros’ 5-1 victory to claim the series championship.
