Top 5 Players of the 1974 Stanley Cup Finals

On Sunday, May 19th, 1974, the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Boston Bruins at the Spectrum in Philadelphia to win the 61st Stanley Cup Finals four games to two. It was the first Stanley Cup championship for the Flyers franchise (or any expansion franchise), and the first that was won in Pennsylvania. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series.

5. #18 Ross Lonsberry (Flyers)- F

Lonsberry picked up player of the game honors in game three, scoring one goal as the Flyers went on to win 4-1.

4. #19 Rick MacLeish (Flyers)- F

MacLeish got player of the game honors in game four, picking up a goal in the Flyers’ 4-2 victory.

3. #16 Bobby Clarke (Flyers)- F

Clarke took player of the game in game two, getting two goals and an assist as the Flyers grabbed the 3-2 overtime win.

2. #1 Bernie Parent (Flyers)- G

Parent grabbed player of the game honors in game six, making all 30 saves on 30 shots as the Flyers won 1-0 to earn the series title.

1. #4 Bobby Orr (Bruins)- D

Orr took player of the game in games one and five, as game one saw him get one goal and one assist in the Bruins’ 3-2 win, followed up in game five as he added two goals and one assist as the Bruins went on to take a 5-1 victory.
