Top 5 Players of the 1962 Stanley Cup Finals

On Sunday, April 22nd, 1962, the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Chicago Black Hawks (now Chicago Blackhawks) at Chicago Stadium to win the 49th Stanley Cup Finals four games to two. It was the 10th Stanley Cup championship for the Maple Leafs franchise, and the third that was won in Illinois. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series.

5. #7 Bobby Hull (Black Hawks)- F

Hull was player of the game in game four, as he got two goals as the Black Hawks took a 4-1 victory.

4. #27 Frank Mahovlich (Maple Leafs)- F

Mahovlich got player of the game honors in game two, getting a goal as the Maple Leafs went on to win it 3-2.

3. #10 George Armstrong (Maple Leafs)- F

Armstrong took the player of the game honors in game one, scoring one goal and two assists in the Maple Leafs’ 3-2 win.

2. #20 Bob Pulford (Maple Leafs)- F

Pulford claimed player of the game honors in game five, as he picked up a hat trick with three goals in the Maple Leafs’ 8-4 victory.

1. #1 Don Simmons (Maple Leafs)- G

Simmons took player of the game in game six, making 20 saves on 21 shots as the Maple Leafs won it 2-1 to claim the series title.
