Top 5 Players of the 1922 Stanley Cup Finals

On Tuesday, March 28th, 1922, the Toronto St. Patricks (now Toronto Maple Leafs) of the National Hockey League defeated the Vancouver Millionaires of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association at Mutual Street Arena in Toronto to win the ninth Stanley Cup Finals three games to two. It was the second Stanley Cup championship for the Maple Leafs franchise, and the fourth that was won in Ontario. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series.

5. #5 Corb Denneny (St. Patricks)- F

Denneny scored three goals over the course of the series, scoring one goal in each of Toronto’s wins in the Finals.

4. #7 Jack Adams (Millionaires)- F

Adams claimed player of the game honors in game one, scoring a hat trick with three goals as the Millionaires picked up a 4-3 victory.

3. #1 Hugh Lehman (Millionaires)- G

Lehman earned player of the game in game three, clinching a shutout victory in game three as the Millionaires won it 3-0.

2. #1 John Ross Roach (St. Patricks)- G

Roach grabbed player of the game honors in game two, allowing just one goal in the St. Patricks’ 2-1 win in overtime to even up the series.

1. #7 Babe Dye (St. Patricks)- F

Dye took player of the game honors in games four and five, as game four saw him get two goals and an assist in the St. Patricks’ 6-0 win, followed up in game five with a four-goal performance, helping the St. Patricks to a 5-1 victory to clinch the series championship.
