Top 5 Players of the 1918 Stanley Cup Finals

On Saturday, March 30th, 1918, the Toronto Hockey Club (now Toronto Maple Leafs) of the National Hockey League defeated the Vancouver Millionaires of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association at Mutual Street Arena in Toronto to win the fifth Stanley Cup Finals three games to two. It was the first Stanley Cup championship for the Maple Leafs franchise, the first Stanley Cup Finals held after the inception of the NHL, and the second that was won in Ontario. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series.

5. #4 Reg Noble (Toronto HC)- F

Noble scored partial player of the game honors in game one, earning two goals and an assist as Toronto got a 5-3 win to start off the series.

4. #6 Alf Skinner (Toronto HC)- F

Skinner took partial player of the game in game one as well, scoring a pair of goals with an assist as Toronto earned the 5-3 victory.

3. #5 Mickey MacKay (Millionaires)- F

MacKay picked up player of the game honors in game two, earning a hat trick with three goals scored along with an assist in the Millionaires’ 6-4 victory.

2. #2 Harry Cameron (Toronto HC)- D

Cameron claimed player of the game honors in game three, scoring a pair of goals along with an assist to help Toronto to the 6-3 win.

1. #1 Hap Holmes (Toronto HC)- G

Holmes took player of the game in game five, allowing only one goal as Toronto claimed a 2-1 victory to win the series title.
