1996 Olympic Softball Tournament Recap

On Tuesday, July 30th, 1996, the United States defeated China 3-1 to win the first gold medal in Olympic baseball history. It was the first gold medal for the United States in Olympic baseball. China earned the silver medal, as Australia took bronze after losing to China 4-2. The tournament was held in the United States, with Atlanta as the host city.
