On Monday, June 22nd, 2024, the Florida Panthers
defeated the Edmonton Oilers at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, to win
the 110th Stanley Cup Finals four games to three. It was the first
Stanley Cup championship for the Panthers franchise, and the fifth that was won in Florida. This was also the first
series to go all seven games after one team won the first three games since the
1945 Finals. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during
the series.
5. #97 Connor McDavid (Oilers)- F
McDavid earned player of the game honors in game five,
as he contributed two goals and two assists in the Oilers’ 5-3 victory.
4. #23 Carter Verhaeghe (Panthers)- F
Verhaeghe nabbed player of the game in game one, scoring
the opening goal of the series as the Panthers went on to win 3-1.
3. #13 Sam Reinhart (Panthers)- F
Reinhart earned game three’s player of the game, contributing
the opening goal as well as an assist on the eventual game-winning tally as Florida
won 4-3 to take a commanding three-game lead in the series.
2. #17 Evan Rodrigues (Panthers)- F
Rodrigues captured player of the game honors in game two,
getting a pair of goals as the Panthers went on to win 4-1.
1. #72 Sergei Bobrovsky (Panthers)- G
Bobrovsky scored game seven’s player of the game
award, making 23 saves on 24 chances in the Panthers’ 2-1 Cup-clinching
victory, after also earning a 32-save shutout in game one of the series.
