On Saturday, May 26th, 1928, India defeated the
Netherlands 3-0 in the gold medal game to win the third gold medal in Olympic
men’s field hockey history. It was the first gold medal for India in Olympic
men’s field hockey. The Netherlands took the silver medal with the loss,
claiming their first silver medal in Olympic men’s field
hockey. Germany defeated Belgium 3-0 in the bronze medal game, grabbing
their first bronze medal in Olympic men’s field hockey.
The tournament was held in the Netherlands, with Amsterdam
as the host city. Dhyan Chand of India led the tournament in goals scored with 15.
