On Thursday, August 5th, 2021, Belgium defeated Australia
1-1, after winning the shootout round 3-2, in the gold medal game to win the 24th
gold medal in Olympic men’s field hockey history. It was the first gold medal
for Belgium in Olympic men’s field hockey. Australia took the silver medal with
the loss, claiming their fourth silver medal in Olympic
men’s field hockey. India defeated Germany 5-4 in the bronze medal game,
grabbing their third bronze medal in Olympic men’s field hockey history.
The tournament was held in Japan, with Tokyo as the
host city. Alexander Hendrickx of Argentina scored the most goals during the
tournament with 14.
