On Sunday, February 28th, 2010, Canada defeated the
United States 3-2 in overtime in the gold medal game to win the 22nd gold medal
in Olympic men’s ice hockey history. It was the eighth gold medal for Canada in
Olympic men’s ice hockey. The United States took the silver medal with the
loss, claiming their eighth silver medal in Olympic
men’s ice hockey. Finland defeated Slovakia 5-3 in the bronze medal game,
claiming their third bronze medal in Olympic men’s ice hockey.
The tournament was held in Canada, with Vancouver as
the host city. Jarome Iginla of Canada scored the most goals during the
tournament with five. Ryan Miller of the United States led goaltenders in save
percentage at .946.
