On Sunday, February 19th, 1928, Canada defeated Sweden
by two points to win the third gold medal in Olympic men’s ice hockey history.
It was the third gold medal for Canada in Olympic men’s ice hockey. Sweden took
the silver medal with four points, claiming their first silver medal in Olympic men’s ice hockey. Switzerland defeated Great
Britain by two points to take the bronze medal, grabbing their first bronze
medal in Olympic men’s ice hockey. The tournament was held in Switzerland, with
St. Moritz as the host city.
Hugh Plaxton and Dave Trottier of Canada scored the
most goals during the tournament with 12. Canada given a bye for the
preliminary round of the tournament due to their undefeated run during the 1924
Winter Olympics.
