On Sunday,
February 20th, 2022, Finland defeated the Russian Olympic Committee 2-1 in the
gold medal game to win the 25th gold medal in Olympic men’s ice hockey history.
It was the first gold medal for Finland in Olympic men’s ice hockey. The
Russian Olympic Committee took the silver medal with the loss, claiming their first
silver medal in Olympic men’s ice hockey. Slovakia defeated Sweden 4-0 in the
bronze medal game, claiming their first bronze medal in Olympic men’s ice
hockey.
The
tournament was held in China, with Beijing as the host city. Juraj Slafkovsky
of Slovakia scored the most goals scored during the tournament with seven. Patrik
Rybar of Slovakia led goaltenders in save percentage at .966.
