On Wednesday, August 5th, 1992, Cuba defeated Chinese
Taipei 11-1 to win the first gold medal in Olympic baseball history. It was the
first gold medal for Cuba in Olympic baseball. Chinese Taipei picked up the
silver medal, as Japan took bronze with an 8-3 victory over the United States.
The tournament was held in Spain, with Barcelona as the host city.
